WHAT IS OMC?

Otis Music Camp (OMC) is a three-week summer music camp held annually in June at the Otis Redding Center for the Arts (ORCA), located at 436 Cotton Avenue, Macon, GA 31201. Designed for youth ages 12 to 18, OMC empowers students to find their voice, grow as musicians, and gain exposure to multiple aspects of the music business. Throughout the three weeks, campers are guided by a team of professional musicians, artists, engineers, and producers who serve as coaches and mentors. The camp welcomes all skill levels—including those interested in behind-the-scenes roles—ensuring there is a place for everyone, whether on stage, in the studio, or behind the curtain.

WEEK ONE

During the first week, students focus on music fundamentals and attend workshops led by successful figures from the mainstream music industry, including well-known recording artists who offer personal insight through guest talks and Q&A sessions.

WEEK TWO

The second week centers on songwriting and recording: campers write original songs and professionally record them in our on-site O3 Recording Studio with support from our talented production team.

WEEK THREE

The third and final week is dedicated to refining performances and preparing for the grand finale—a high-energy live concert held at the historic Grand Opera House, showcasing student talent in a show-stopping production.

BEYOND THE MUSIC

Beyond music, OMC fosters meaningful connections and lifelong friendships. Whether a camper dreams of performing on stage or prefers to contribute behind the scenes, Otis Music Camp offers a transformative experience in a supportive and inspiring environment.

SUMMER SONGWRITER AWARD

The best song from the camp will be selected to receive the Otis Redding Foundation Summer Songwriter’s Award. The winner of the award will have the opportunity to record a music video for their song and have it released on digital streaming platforms. The winner will also get red carpet treatment at An Evening of Respect in September.
