“Neverland”

By Madisyn Cabiness

If I close my eyes, it’s almost like I see

Such a mystifying land where everyone is kind to me

Flying high to find castles in the sky, and I

Remember what it’s like to hold the wonder of a child

But such a world is beyond what eyes can see

Such a life could never find its way to me

Everything feels barely out of hand

As soon as I take off I’m forced to land

Even the top shelf is just out of sight

So how could I ever find the second star to the right

A book off of my shelf can bring me oh so far away

Into a world of never-ending stars

Staring up into the blue I look for my one dream come true

To find me and remind me

Nothing’s ever really out of hand

As soon as I take off I’ll never land

But even the top shelf is just out of sight

So how could I ever find the second star to the right

A castle so high with its crystalline stairs

How I wish I could fly all the way there

But if I made it to the top

Who’s saying I won’t fall, who’s saying I won’t fall

Everything feels barely out of hand

As soon as I take off I’m forced to land

Even the top shelf is just out of sight

So how could I ever find the second star to the right

I’ll keep wishing upon stars
